Erasmus+ Youth Exchange
25.06.2024 - 05.07.2024 Latvia

SUMMARY:
From 25.06.2024 - 05.07.2024, 25 young participants from Latvia, Spain, Lithuania, and Poland took part in the transformative Erasmus+ youth exchange project "Golden Communication." Held in Dienvidkurzeme, this initiative focused on enhancing communication skills, digital literacy, and personal development through a series of engaging and interactive sessions.
The "Golden Communication" project started with a warm welcome and icebreaker activities, allowing participants to get to know each other and set collective goals. This was followed by an open discussion where everyone shared their expectations, fears, and suggestions, fostering an environment of mutual support and understanding.
Participants engaged in team-building exercises that emphasised the importance of collaboration, trust, and effective communication. These activities set the stage for deeper learning and connection.
A series of workshops and sessions covered various aspects of communication:
-
Understanding communication: Participants explored the fundamentals of effective verbal and non-verbal communication.
-
Mental health and communication: This session highlighted the link between mental well-being and effective communication.
-
Intergenerational communication: Strategies for communicating with different age groups were discussed, enhancing adaptability and empathy.
-
Public speaking: Practical exercises helped participants overcome their fears and improve their public speaking skills.
Cultural nights were a highlight, with each country presenting their unique traditions, food, and interesting facts, fostering cross-cultural appreciation and bonding.
Participants also delved into digital skills with sessions on:
-
Email communication: Learning to write clear, effective, and respectful emails.
-
Graphic design and social media safety: Equipping participants with essential digital literacy skills.
-
Marketing tools: Creating visuals and exploring creative communication strategies.
Creative expression was encouraged through theatre workshops and filmmaking sessions, where participants learned to write scripts, film, and edit videos. The project culminated in an Oscar-style award ceremony celebrating their short films on communication.
Other notable sessions included:
-
Non-verbal communication and body language: Understanding and conveying messages through non-verbal cues.
-
Trust building exercises: Strengthening relationships through trust-building activities.
-
